Shoot w/ Isabelle

Today, I shot with Isabelle. She is a 12 year old girl with a wonderful personality. It was her first time in front of a camera, and she was very nervous. But after a bit she loosened up , and we were able to get some good stuff. She is a beautiful girl, and was so sweet. I'm very happy with the way the shots turned out. I got many good ones, but these are my favorite 3 I think.

The image above is my favorite image from the shoot. I may end up turning this one in for one of my APS's unless I get a shot I like better. But I'm very happy with this one!

Landscape stuff.

These were taken way back at the beginning of they year. There not the greatest shots, but I really enjoy doing landscape photography for personal work, so I wanted to post a few. I can't wait until things get pretty again so that I can get out and do some more.

The shot above was taken for an assignment to show motion. I really loved this one, and my instructors did too! It's a 30 sec exposure and I just love the surreal look of it, and how you kind of have to look twice to figure out what it is.

Can't wait to do more. I really enjoy photographing flowers and waterfalls.

First Glassware shot!

This is the very first glassware I shot in the commercial studio. Way back in Phase I or II. I can't remember when we started working in the studio. This was shot on 4x5 film, and then I scanned it. I love this shot! Too bad I broke one of the glasses, but at least it was after this shot. :]

Conceptual Still Life

This image was taken in the commercial studio for an assignment during phase II. It was to do a conceptual still life. This photo doesn't really have a conceptual meaning, but I thought it was a cool idea and wanted to give it a try. I basically just cut three bell peppers and a some type of other pepper, chili or something, and stuck them inside of eachother.

Aerial Photographs

These photographs were taken back in phase II when we had an aerial photograph day. We were able to take 30 min flights across the street at the airport in groups of 3. I wasn't able to go up during a very beautiful sunny time unfortunately. When my group went, it was very cold, cloudy, and windy. So the images do not have nice shadows like I had hoped, but maybe I will get a chance to do some more in the Spring when it gets nicer.

These were just a few images out of hundreds taken. It really was alot of fun! I definately recommend giving it a try, it you ever have the opportunity.

The image above was taken while standing waiting on my turn. I love it!

Engagement shoot.

So I did a mock engagement shoot with my friends Natalie and John this past weekend. They are an actual couple so I think they turned out good and made for more realistic shots. The image below is the one I ended up turning in for phase III personal submissions.

Phase III Self Portrait

So every phase we have been required to do a self portrait. I always have trouble coming up with ideas for them. But this is my self portrait for phase III.

So I never like photos of myself. I decided to this for my self portrait, because I like my eyes, and wanted to incorporate my engagement ring somehow, and I love black and whites, so I made it a black and white. It's not my favorite pic by any means, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Michelina

So, I went to a group shoot at a studio in Springfield this weekend. It was so much fun. It lasted from around 10am-5pm and I was able to shoot with a variety of models. I really enjoyed shooting with Michelina. I feel like we worked very well together, and she worked very well for the style that I like to shoot. These are just a few of the many great shots that I got of her. I'm going to be posting several blogs of shots of her. These are just a few we did outdoors. It was such a nice day out, so we took advantage of it.

This one I brought the clarity up on just a bit. I think it adds a nice pop.

And it all comes back to the basics. Lol, cool on warm. We learned this wayyy back in phase I.
More to come soon!

PR and Alternative.

These are some shots that were taken of model, Alyssa, for a PR and Alternative assignment. The purpose of the assignment was to learn to shoot a PR type headshot that can be used for purposes, but also shoot an alternative pose to learn to increase sales with client. Alyssa, was a beautiful girl with a beautiful personality. I loved working with her and she was a great model. I got some great shots that I really like, these are just a few of my favorites. Let me know what you think.

Another Low key male shoot.

These were shots taken of Aaron who came into the studio last week. He responded to my craigslist ad I posted and came into the studio at school. I probably won't be turning any of these in for my additional personal submissions, but it's was great shooting with him. It was also brought to my attention that I have been posting alot of black and white images, so I am posting the color ones from this shoot. I have really fallen in love with black and white images lately, it is just a matter of my personal preference. I realize that some people enjoy color more, so I will try to post equally.

The image above and below are the same photo, the top one is just cropped slightly closer.

Low Key Male.

These are shots that were taken for the low key assignment for phase III. Kelvin, my model, was nice enough to come in and do some shots. I like the way they turned out.

Please feel free to leave any comments.

Commercial Work

These were shot for mandatory commercial assignments. Reflective metal and glassware. I like the black image for the cuff links but included an experimental shot that I used a blue gel on.

Interior shot

This in an interior shot taken for phase III. These were taken at a hospice house. The place was absolutely beautiful, but this was my favorite shot. These were multiple exposures taken and then combined in a HDR program. I really enjoy shooting interiors. I think that mostly comes from my own personal enjoyment of tasteful interior design. I think I want to shoot more interiors on my own time for my own enjoyment.

Baby Cece

These images were taken of baby Cece who is about 2 months old. At the beginning of the year I photographed mother, Celia's, maternity shots. It was a very challenging experience to photograph a baby in such a short period of time. Although I like some of these in color as well, I really love black and white images.

I included the image above mostly just because I thought it was hilarious. I guess baby Cece was tired and ready to eat.

Kids Assignment

These images were taken for my phase III mandatory assignment. The assignment was to photograph a kid age 8 or under. I had brother and sister, Avery and Evan, come in. Avery is 8 and Evan is 6. They were cute kids and a blast to work with!

Evan was so hilarious. He was making funny faces the whole time!

The image below of Avery, is the one that I ended up turning in. I was really happy with the way it turned out.

First Post: High Key Shoot

Hi everyone! My name is Haley and i'm currently attending Hallmark Institute of Photography in MA. It's a 10 month program, and I'm currently in my 7th month here. I wanted to start posting some of my pictures to share with friends and family and to get to know other photographers. I love shooting many different types of photography, but as of now, the goal is to become a portrait and wedding photographer. I love the school and am learning so much here, not only the technical aspect of photography, but also the business side. I'm so incredibly lucky to be here!

These are just some images that were taken during a high key shoot. My model, Brittany, was great and I really enjoyed working with her. I was really happy with images I got, and these are just a few from the day! Let me know what you think.

The image above is the one that I ended up turning in for the high key assignment of Phase III Mandatories.

The two above images were just a couple experimental shots that we did after shooting what I needed for my mandatory assignment. They actually ended up being my favorite!
